April Special Guests

DJ SPUN (San Francisco, NYC)
Few have contributed as much to the ongoing vitality of dance music in NYC in the new millennium or been such a welcome guest at the world’s cult house, disco, and techno parties. Whether playing Panorama Bar in Berlin, Liquid Room in Tokyo, or a classic disco set for Horse Meat Disco in London, Spun's unique style and approach always sets him apart from the crowd. His Promo Only imprint is credited with bringing the worldwide disco edit craze to the U.S.A. Rong Music and their dual imprint collaboration with fellow NY dance floor eclecticist DFA put out some of the most compelling, and carefully curated, releases of the Noughts. The parties he throws are the stuff of legend. For seven years the curator of MoMA/P.S.1’s prestigious Warm Up Music series, his All Night Rong parties boast a devoted following from London to Tokyo. For 20+ years his DJ sets, releases and remixes on his own labels and others have seen him aligning with influential pioneers of dance music including Francois K, DJ Harvey, Daniel Wang, Stephen Hall of Arthur Russell and Loose Joints fame, Douglas J. McCarthy of Nitzer Ebb, Radio Slave, Maceo Plex, James Chance and the Contortions, the Idjut Boys, and many more. Watch out for his collaborative projects “Acid Experience” with Dhyan Møller, “BlakSpun” with Mark Bell (aka Blakkat) and live/electronic PsychedelicRavePunk group “the Loose Control Band” with Jonah Sharp (Spacetime Continuum, Reagenz).

JIMMY DePRE
Philadelphia native Jimmy DePre began his professional DJ career in 2002 at the age of 15 landing a job with iconic radio personality and DJ, Jerry Blavat. In 2009, he began his 10 year Friday & Saturday residency at Tavern on Camac, which in 2017 was voted “Best Dance Spot” by Philadelphia Magazine. During this time, gig highlights include a residency at Bobby Viteritti’s Classics Never Die and Shep Pettibone’s summer poolside Tea Dances in Asbury Park. Committed to respecting the history and importance of the queer contribution to dance music, one of Jimmy’s biggest honors was being asked to play the weekend-long Fire Island celebration marking the 50 year inception of Tea Dance alongside Robbie Leslie, Max Rodriquez & Randy Bettis. Always curious about San Francisco, Jimmy visited in 2014 and fell in love. He played his first guest spot at Go BANG! in 2015 and quickly began traveling more and more frequently to the Bay Area. After guesting at various venues during his visits, Jimmy decided to move to Oakland in 2018. His knowledge, drive and unique style quickly led him to becoming a resident at Go BANG! He’s since played, both solo and with his partner Jeremy Rosebrook, at parties put on by David Harness, Comfort & Joy, Big Muscle, Polyglamorous and Electroluxx, just to name a few. As Jimmy embarks on his 19th year of sharing music, he’s excited to continue to share his passion of past, present and future with the dance floor.
